GENERAL MANAGER

THE ROLE

An opportunity exists for an experienced General Manager to join Pioneer Valley Water Co-operative Limited (PVWater).
You will monitor the business environment and proposed changes to key legislation and assess implications for organisational goals, business operations and the irrigation community.
You will contribute to, and support organisational strategic priorities for PVWater and Pioneer Valley Water Mutual Co-operative (PVMutual), proposing solutions to problems, suggesting and producing policy to implement organisational goals, and preparing high-quality responses and submissions to regulatory and other government inquiries.
You will advise PVWater and PVMutual Directors in relation to the management of financial and irrigation scheme infrastructure assets and implement management strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-    Manage PVWater's day to day business operations;
-Perform functions required under the Cooperatives Act 1997 as Secretary for PVWater and PVMutual;
-Manage PVWater's HR functions including conduct of interviews, hiring, leadership, training, performance assessment, and fostering of a positive work environment;
-Create and manage annual budgets and analyse accounting and financial data for PVWater and PVMutual;
-Prepare high-quality reports, presentations and specific briefing notes, approve meeting notices and agendas, review minutes and regularly engage in Board and General meetings to inform the Boards and customers of PVWater and PVMutual;
-Liaise effectively both directly and through written correspondence with Directors, customers, elected officials, representatives of government departments, government owned corporations and peak industry groups on a range of compliance, reporting and other industry related inquiries and issues;
-Ensure compliance for PVWater and PVMutual with all Federal, State and Local government laws; and
-Provide direct support to the Directors, and to the Operations Officer and Administration Manager in their roles, as required.

REQUIREMENTS

-    Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role;
-Experience in business planning and budgeting;
-Knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.);
-Strong analytical ability;
-Excellent written and oral communication skills;
-Outstanding organizational and leadership skills;
-Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude;
-Self-motivated and highly ethical;
-Current Queensland driver's licence;
-Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and/or experience in the operation and maintenance of water supply infrastructure (including pumps, valves, pipelines, storages, structures) will be an advantage;
-Ability to work in a small team committed to efficient service to customers, including excellent customer service skills; and
-Experience in, or a relationship with the agricultural sector, including an understanding of regional agricultural issues.

LOCATION

Based in Mackay and overseeing operations in the beautiful Pioneer Valley which is situated just west of Mackay in tropical North Queensland.

REMUNERATION

WATER SERVICES OFFICER

THE ROLE

The position of Water Services Officer participates in the operation of irrigation water distribution services and maintenance of irrigation scheme infrastructure.  Duties include but are not limited to:
-    Water delivery, customer liaison, SCADA and Irrigation Management Systems monitoring, including rostered after-hours on-call responsibilities;
-Organising and participating in all operations aspects of PVWater's meter fleet including acquisition, supply, installation, validation, performance monitoring, usage data collection, input and reporting;
-Responding appropriately to planned and unplanned operations and maintenance requirements;
-Contributing to development and implementation of the annual program of works;
-Supporting the Operations Officer with IT related and other work as required;
-Supporting the Operations Assistant with field work as required; and
-Assisting with the development and ongoing maintenance of procedural manuals;

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
-    Current driver's licence;
-Ability to work in a small team committed to efficient service to customers, including excellent customer service skills;
-Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
-Good computer skills specifically with Microsoft Office packages; and
-Will need to be physically fit and active to meet the requirements of the role;

Candidates will additionally hold or be capable and willing to obtain the following qualifications:
-Work Safely in the Construction Industry;
-Apply First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation;
-Butt / Electrofusion Welding of Polyethylene Pipelines;
-Enter and Work in Confined Spaces;
-Install / Maintain Meters for Non-Potable, Non-Urban Water Supplies;
-Maintain Chainsaws / Trim and Cross Cut Felled Trees;
-Perform Rescue from a Low Voltage Switchboard; and
-Work Safely at Heights.

Operatiing in the beautiful Pioneer Valley which is situated just west of Mackay in tropical North Queensland.
